What’s On My Mind 6.5.21

Happy first Saturday of June! I’m so excited it’s finally summer. It’s been raining almost nonstop for the past month in Austin, though, which is a bit of a bummer. Still, I’d rather have rain than drought. Our trees are very happy 🙂 Here are some other things I’m loving right now. I’m almost tempted to make this a one item post because I loved the first thing so much:

  • I just finished Legendborn by Tracy Deonn and I. LOVED. IT. It’s a YA book set in a world where a modern-day order of the Knights of the Round Table protects the world from demons. The main character is a strong, badass young woman. The book deals with racism, classism, and sexism masterfully while also providing a story you can’t put down. I cannot wait for the second one to come out. This is literally the best book I’ve read so far in 2021.
  • I bought these hoop earrings from Nina Berenato’s latest collection and they’re my current favorite jewelry pieces. The collection is inspired by women’s quilting traditions, and it’s gorgeous. I have so many Nina Berenato pieces and I still can’t get enough.
  • I just realized the Costco in Austin carried my favorite coffee, Ruta Maya’s medium roast. This coffee is so balanced, and not too acidic. It feels like a little luxury every day.
  • Another book I loved-Queen Move by Kennedy Ryan. It’s a romance novel about two childhood best friends who reunite as adults. It’s the third book in her All the King’s Men series, and I think it’s the best of the three. I love Ryan’s writing-she writes great female characters. The leads of this series are political consultants, and you love to root for them.
  • The Bachelorette starts on Monday! I am so excited to reunite with our Bachelor watching group in person. It’s been too long since I’ve gotten to cook for people who aren’t my family.
